The original Shah (or Golden Mikado) dates back to 1886 and is shrouded in mystery. Some believe the variety has been lost, while others claim it has not. Either way, this may well be a true Shah: a unique, robust, and delicious tomato for the hobby gardener. The oblate beefsteak tomatoes weigh 220-400g and are creamy white to light yellow in colour with almost white flesh. The exquisite mildly sweet and full flavour are striking and quite unique for a light-coloured tomato.
The largest tomatoes in our assortment are called beefsteak tomatoes. This tomato owes its name to the larger amount of flesh (instead of juice). This applies to most varieties in this group, with a few exceptions such as the so-called stuffing tomatoes.
