This old Northern Italian variety is cherished and praised by many old seed companies there! The high-round, large tomatoes can grow to be as large as 500 g: an Italian flavor sensation! The large pear-shaped fruits have a green top, which we are not used to in the Netherlands, but the "green" is perfectly edible. A vigorously growing variety that can be suckered for better management if desired.
Do you often grow your tomatoes in the same place, for example in a greenhouse? Then diseases can develop in the soil, which rootstocks are resistant to, and thus grafting is recommended:
for grafting tomatoes, use this variety: 291110 Tomato 'Landon'. As a helpful tool, we recommend these grafting clips: 847520 Grafting clip 1.5 mm.
The largest tomatoes in our assortment are called beefsteak tomatoes. This tomato owes its name to the larger amount of flesh (instead of juice). This applies to most varieties in this group, with a few exceptions such as the so-called stuffing tomatoes.
