  • Origin: North America
  • Latin: Lycopersicon lycopersicum, also known as L. esculentum

A historic Mennonite variety from 1885, named after the Brandywine River in Pennsylvania. The fruits are ready for harvest when they are yellow-white striped and ripen to a deep orange-yellow. A beefsteak tomato weighing 350-450g with a very distinct "heavenly" taste. Remove foliage and suckers in time to prevent diseases; cultivation in a greenhouse yields the best results.

Do you often grow your tomatoes in the same spot, for example in a greenhouse? Then diseases can develop in the soil, which rootstocks are resistant to, making grafting advisable:
for grafting tomatoes, use this variety: 291110 Tomato 'Landon'. As an aid, we recommend these grafting clips: 847520 Grafting clip 1.5 mm.

The largest tomatoes in our assortment are called beefsteak tomatoes. This tomato owes its name to the larger amount of flesh (instead of juice). This applies to most varieties in this group, with a few exceptions such as the so-called stuffing tomatoes.
