Beefsteak tomato 'Brandywine Black' / 'True Black Brandywine'

  • Product number: 295235
  • Origin: Central and South America
  • Latin: Lycopersicon lycopersicum, also known as L. esculentum

The fantastic ("heavenly") taste of the Brandywine, combined with the unctuously sweet characteristics of black tomatoes (even a slightly smoky flavour) makes this a beautiful, complex-tasting beefsteak tomato. Grow them in the greenhouse or under a (corrugated plastic) cover. This is a so-called potato leaf type. The plant can grow quite large, and sometimes a plant occurs that produces smaller fruits.

Do you often grow your tomatoes in the same spot, for example in a greenhouse? Then soil-borne diseases can develop, which rootstocks are resistant to, and for which grafting is therefore recommended:
for grafting tomatoes, use this variety: 291110 Tomato 'Landon'. As an aid, we recommend these grafting clips: 847520 Grafting clip 1.5 mm.

The largest tomatoes in our assortment are called beefsteak tomatoes. This tomato owes its name to the larger amount of flesh (instead of juice). This applies to most varieties in this group, with a few exceptions such as the so-called stuffing tomatoes.

Names:
Latin: Lycopersicon lycopersicum, or also L. esculentum
