The compact plants only grow to 60-80 cm high yet yield large beefsteak tomatoes, sometimes over 400g, but usually 250-350g per fruit. A very early-harvesting and therefore usually disease-free variety, which originated before 1915 from a cross between 'Ponderosa' and 'Dwarf Champion'. Feel free to grow them in large pots; their taste has been praised for over 100 years, which is why this little variety still exists!
The largest tomatoes in our assortment are called beefsteak tomatoes. This tomato owes its name to the larger amount of flesh (instead of juice). This applies to most varieties in this group, with a few exceptions such as the so-called stuffing tomatoes.
