The appearance of this tomato will immediately entice you: red with golden-yellow stripes. When cut open, you'll discover that this bicolor pattern continues internally: yellow with red. This places this variety under the so-called Pineapple-type. The taste is fruity and sweet and is widely praised, the texture is deliciously soft like an avocado! The variety originated from a cross between 'Big Rainbow' and 'Green Zebra'. Cultivation in a greenhouse is most successful; expect exuberant growth, so prune suckers well. The fruits grow large: an average of 400-500g.
Do you often grow your tomatoes in the same spot, for example in a greenhouse? Then soil-borne diseases can develop, against which rootstocks are resistant, and therefore grafting is recommended:
for grafting tomatoes, use this variety: 291110 Tomato 'Landon'. As a helpful tool, we recommend these grafting clips: 847520 Grafting clip 1.5 mm.
The largest tomatoes in our assortment are called beefsteak tomatoes. This name comes from the larger amount of flesh (instead of juice) in the tomato. This applies to most varieties in this group, with a few exceptions such as the so-called stuffing tomatoes.
