This variety was introduced in England as early as 1910, then for years (until around 1950) it was a top choice for professionals and is still very popular with hobbyists! Interest from commercial growers has decreased mainly due to its thin skin, but for the home grower, this is precisely an advantage! The flavour is very good, full aromas with a good balance between sweet and sour. This semi-tall climbing variety prefers to grow in a greenhouse, but also endures many summers outdoors, as it ripens well in cool weather. In the greenhouse, production starts early and continues until the first frost!
Do you often grow your tomatoes in the same place, for example in a greenhouse? Then diseases can develop in the soil, to which rootstocks are resistant, and therefore grafting is recommended:
for grafting tomatoes, use this variety: 291110 Tomato 'Landon'. As a tool, we recommend these grafting clips: 847520 Grafting clip 1.5 mm.
This group of tomatoes are of a size between cherry tomatoes and beefsteak tomatoes: medium-sized, in other words. Each has its own unique character. The climbing varieties ripen somewhat later than the compact varieties and are therefore more successful under rain protection: a lean-to, greenhouse, or grow tunnel.
