Medium-sized Tomato 'Antho Striped Dwarf'
- Product number: 293130
- Origin: Central and South America
- Latin: Lycopersicon lycopersicum, or also L. esculentum
Beautiful orange-red tomatoes with a purple top and stripes. This tomato develops the healthy substance anthocyanin under the influence of sunlight, which causes the blue coloration in the fruits. This variety was developed (through natural crosses) by Mark McCaslin in the USA. The medium-sized fruits weigh between 80-150g and are juicy, flavorful with a good balance between sweet and sour. The plants remain fairly compact, about 1m, and can easily be supported with a few stakes; do not remove suckers.
This group of tomatoes are in-between cherry tomatoes and beefsteak tomatoes in size: medium-sized. Each has its own unique character. The climbing varieties ripen somewhat later than the compact varieties and are therefore more successful under rain protection: a lean-to, greenhouse or growing tunnel.
