Finally, a cherry that can do it all! Those who had almost given up the fight against the notorious potato blight (Phytophthora) can now rejoice. 'Rubylicious' is not just any red cherry tomato; it's a small powerhouse. Where other varieties perish at the first autumn mists, this vital grower proudly stands tall and continues to produce cheerfully. The shiny, deep red fruits (weighing about 15-20 grams) hang in generous, long clusters on the plant. And then there's the taste... because resistance is great, but of course, we also want to snack! The balance is truly excellent: a very high sugar content combined with precisely that touch of refined aroma that makes a tomato truly delicious. The texture is firm enough not to burst immediately in a rain shower, but melts in the mouth as soon as you bite into it. Ideal for unprotected outdoor cultivation in our erratic climate, but it also performs phenomenally in the greenhouse. An early ripener that provides an abundance of healthy snacks all summer long.
The smallest tomatoes in our assortment are called cherry tomatoes or ping-pong tomatoes, depending on their size. Some varieties are elongated or heart-shaped and are accordingly given a slightly different name. Some are even original, wild species. Most taste extra sweet, a few have a sweet and sour taste. Cherry tomatoes are closest to the original species, which is perhaps why they are generally more resistant to the dreaded potato blight.
