Some varieties are elongated or heart-shaped and are given a slightly different name accordingly. Some are even original, wild varieties. Most taste extra sweet; a few have a sweet-sour taste. Cherry tomatoes are closest to the original varieties, which is perhaps why they are generally more resistant to the dreaded potato blight.
