An endearingly eccentric little tomato with firm, wrinkled, dark green leaves that closely resemble those of Cavolo Nero (but much smaller...).
The growth habit of the plants is also peculiar: upright, short, and compact, with little branching. The main stems only grow to about 60 to 80 cm high and produce a few side shoots, which do not need to be pinched out. Due to their small size, the plants fit perfectly in 3 to 5-litre pots; use stakes for support.
The fruits are olive-shaped with a diameter of about 25 mm and ripen from light green to red. A firm skin encloses the pulp, which is both juicy and tasty - a delicious treat!
The smallest tomatoes in our assortment are called cherry tomatoes or ping-pong tomatoes, depending on their size. Some varieties are elongated or heart-shaped and are named accordingly. Some are even original wild species. Most taste extra sweet, while a few have a sweet and sour taste. Cherry tomatoes are closest to the original species, which is perhaps why they are generally more resistant to the dreaded potato blight.
