He never catches a Smurf, let me give the name of that poor wizard to an interesting little tomato... these are the words of Phil Seneca of Good Mind Seeds, who found this accidental cross among his tomato trials. A beautiful mix of recessive and dominant traits emerged, including purple-colored stems and leaves. This hybrid shows characteristics of the currant tomato (L. pimpinellifolium) and the Peruvian tomato (L. peruvianum) and is not yet fully stable, so you can expect different fruit shapes, most round with a pointed tip (heart-shaped) and red, yellow, and a lot of purple from the healthy anthocyanin. The taste is impressive for an anthocyanin tomato, as most purple tomatoes lack that rich tomato flavor. Another impressive aspect of the fruits is their long shelf life; they can last for months outside the refrigerator! The harvest is early and quite large, the plants are usually indeterminate.
Do you often grow your tomatoes in the same spot, for example in a greenhouse? Then soil-borne diseases can develop, which rootstocks are resistant to, and grafting is recommended:
for grafting tomatoes, use this variety: 291110 Tomato 'Landon'. As a tool, we recommend these grafting clips: 847520 Grafting clip 1.5 mm.
The smallest tomatoes in our assortment are called cherry tomatoes or ping-pong tomatoes, depending on their size. Some varieties are elongated or heart-shaped and are accordingly given a slightly different name. Some are even original, wild species. Most taste extra sweet, a few have a sweet and sour taste. Cherry tomatoes are closest to the original species, perhaps that's why they are generally more resistant to the dreaded potato blight.
