Cherry Tomato 'Bumble Bee Pink'

  • Product number: 291175
  • Origin: Central and South America
  • Latin: Lycopersicon lycopersicum, or also L. esculentum

A member of the Artisan group: small, striped tomatoes with a very good flavour.
These deliciously sweet fruits weigh no more than 20-25 grams each and are rosy red with shiny yellow and orange stripes.

Do you often grow your tomatoes in the same spot, for example in a greenhouse? Then diseases can develop in the soil, which rootstocks are resistant to, and therefore grafting is recommended:
for grafting tomatoes, use this variety: 291110 Tomato 'Landon'. As an aid, we recommend these grafting clips: 847520 Grafting clip 1.5 mm.

The smallest tomatoes in our assortment are called cherry tomatoes or ping-pong tomatoes, depending on their size. Some varieties are elongated or heart-shaped and are given a slightly different name accordingly. Some are even original, wild species. Most taste extra sweet, a few have a sweet and sour taste. Cherry tomatoes are closest to the original species, which is perhaps why they are generally more resistant to the dreaded potato blight.

Names:
Latin: Lycopersicon lycopersicum, or also L. esculentum
Dutch: Kerstomaat
Also known as: Pingpongtomaat
English: Cherry Tomato

Sowing method: March-May indoors. Transplant into pots when 5 cm tall. Place in a very light position and harden off outdoors from April when the weather is fine. Do not plant out before the end of May. Tomato plants use a lot of water. For this taller or (in the greenhouse) climbing type, the side shoots (suckers) should be removed regularly. Planting distance 60-80 cm.
