Olive Tomato 'Blush Tiger' / 'Blush'

  • Product number: 291167
  • Origin: Central and South America
  • Latin: Lycopersicon lycopersicum, or also L. esculentum

A unique beauty, this small tomato is beautifully striped, elongated like an olive, and in ripe color: yellow with pink-red stripes. The fruits do not burst easily and are deliciously sweet with a nice acid balance. They are easy to pick and are, of course, very popular in restaurants! The plants are climbing (so prune side shoots) and quite disease-resistant, partly due to the fine, feathery leaves. The variety comes from Artisan Seeds, see their Facebook page…

Do you often grow your tomatoes in the same place, for example in a greenhouse? Then diseases can develop in the soil, which rootstocks are resistant to, and in which case grafting is recommended:
for grafting tomatoes, use this variety: 291110 Tomato 'Landon'. As an aid, we recommend these grafting clips: 847520 Grafting clip 1.5 mm.

The smallest tomatoes in our assortment are called cherry tomatoes or ping-pong tomatoes, depending on their size. Some varieties are elongated or heart-shaped and are given a slightly different name accordingly. Some are even original, wild species. Most taste extra sweet, a few have a sweet and sour taste. Cherry tomatoes are closest to the original species, which is probably why they are generally more resistant to the dreaded potato blight.

Sowing method: Sow indoors from March to May. Transplant into pots when seedlings are 5 cm tall. Provide plenty of light and harden off outdoors from April when the weather is good. Do not plant out before late May. Tomato plants require a lot of water. For this taller or (greenhouse) climbing type, side shoots (suckers) must be regularly removed. Planting distance 60-80 cm.
