A true "wild" tomato, completely original, as it occurs in the wild in Central America. The plant climbs to about 2 m and yields a good harvest of small red tomatoes weighing 7-15 grams, up to 3 cm in diameter. The mild, sweet, aromatic taste is exceptionally good, and its disease resistance to late blight is often used for bridge crosses with our cultivated tomatoes.
Do you often grow your tomatoes in the same spot, for example in a greenhouse? Then diseases can develop in the soil, which rootstocks are resistant to, and grafting is therefore recommended:
for grafting tomatoes, use this variety: 291110 Tomato 'Landon'. As an aid, we recommend these grafting clips: 847520 Grafting clip 1.5 mm.
The smallest tomatoes in our assortment are called cherry tomatoes or ping-pong tomatoes, depending on their size. Some varieties are elongated or heart-shaped and are accordingly given a slightly different name. Some are even original, wild species. Most taste extra sweet; a few have a sweet-and-sour taste. Cherry tomatoes are closest to the original species, which is probably why they are generally more resistant to the dreaded potato blight.
