The grain of the future! Just read the description below... In Africa, this crop has been cultivated since 3000 BC (that's 5000 years!), known in America since the 17th century (brought by black slaves) and is now the 5th most important crop in the world! A summary of its many properties and uses: the grain is gluten-free(!), detoxifying (antioxidant), you can bake it, pop it, ferment it into malt (then acts as a probiotic), use it as grits or couscous, and process it into molasses or syrup. Furthermore, in Africa, the grain is used for beer production and the straw for house building and packaging (cardboard). Convinced? The tufted grass species grows about 100-150 cm tall and roots deep, which is good for soil structure. This is the black-seeded variety.
