The grain of the future! Just read the following description... In Africa, this crop has been cultivated since 3000 BC (so already 5000 years!), known in America since the 17th century (brought by black slaves) and is now the 5th most important crop in the world! A summary of its many properties and applications: the grain is gluten-free (!), detoxifying (antioxidant), you can bake, pop, ferment it into malt (then acts as a probiotic), use as groats or couscous and process it into molasses or sugar syrup. Furthermore, in Africa, the grain is used for beer production and the straw for house building and packaging (cardboard). Convinced? This clump-forming, annual grass species grows about 2-3 m high and roots deeply, which is very good for soil structure.
