As with so many vegetable varieties, with increasing interest in old varieties, modern versions of these old varieties are emerging. It's always good to test them out, compare them, and... for a grower, there's less risk of diseases.
The same applies to this renewal of the ancient "Wild Spinach". Like the original wild spinach, it has thick, crinkled leaves and is more resistant to cold, rain, and mildew (Wolf 1,2,3 and 4). It has also been discovered that this spinach is delicious in salads, provided (of course) it is picked young. The best results with this cold-resistant variety are obtained with (early) autumn cultivation and overwintering cultivation: under cold frames, you can harvest all winter long! In summer, cultivation is only successful in a shaded spot (shade net) with sufficient mulch.
