Bright green variety for summer cultivation, slow to bolt, sow in rows (thin out) or in pots.
Fortunately, cos lettuce is back in the spotlight! We are discovering this crispy, slightly spicy lettuce as a delicious raw product. Cos lettuce is healthy and grows easily. In the past, the heads were tied together a few weeks before harvesting to make them more tender, hence the name. Nowadays, we are used to the taste and even appreciate a little bitterness in raw vegetables. In the past, this lettuce was even briefly cooked in the Netherlands, which gave it the old nickname "stoofsla" (stew lettuce). The Romans already ate this lettuce, so it is truly a historical type!
