Good cold resistance, old "slaras". Easy to manage due to its limited size. In the center, this dark green cos lettuce (with pointed leaves) is tender and yellow.
Can also be grown in pots.
Fortunately, cos lettuce is gaining significant attention again! We are discovering this crispy, slightly spicy lettuce as a delicious raw product. Cos lettuce is healthy and grows easily. In the past, the heads were tied together a few weeks before harvest to make them more tender, hence the name. Nowadays, we are used to the taste and even appreciate a little bitterness in raw vegetables. Previously, this lettuce was even briefly cooked in the Netherlands, earning it the old nickname "stoofsla" (stew lettuce). The Romans already ate this lettuce, so it is truly a historical type!
