ORGANICALLY GROWN SEEDS! A gardener's selection of this very old variety (originating from Belgium). White-fleshed, smooth, thick roots with a black-brown skin. Due to the long roots, the soil needs to be deeply loosened. Cleaning is best done with gardening gloves, as they stain black and were therefore formerly called "kitchen maid's sorrow" (keukenmeidenverdriet).
The taste more than makes up for everything: wonderfully soft and asparagus-like.
