Growing vegetables in the forest or another shady spot? The list of possibilities is growing... take this rather rare, 1-2 m tall plant. The young shoots are as delicious as asparagus and the roots can be eaten cooked and are rich in starch. The roots also have medicinal value, see internet. You can harvest the first shoots, after which the plant must of course be given the chance to grow, the white hanging flowers followed by beautiful berries (not edible) will adorn your garden!
