The hollyhock is a popular member of the mallow family! Not only an ornament for the garden, but also a versatile addition to salads. We found this bright white, single-flowered variety in Gaziantep, Turkey, and found it very tasty. The feast can begin just weeks after sowing: prune the tips of the plant, wonderfully tender, and the plant will continue to produce young, tender green growth. When it blooms in the 2nd year, the young buds (after stir-frying briefly) can be served. The petals (picked one by one) add an unctuous element to salads, comparable to avocado. You can also make a refreshing tea from the petals! In short, a delight for both the eyes and the taste buds.
