THE SEEDS ARE HARVESTED FROM EXTRA FERTILE TREES.
Fortunately, this fruit tree from North America and Canada, which is quite hardy in our climate, is becoming increasingly known and popular. The taste of the elongated, yellow-green fruits (5-15 cm) is truly exotic, leaning towards banana, mango, and pineapple, and is packed with vitamins. So healthy, that there are serious indications of cancer prevention. At least 2 plants are needed for cross-pollination. Young plants prefer shade and need some extra winter protection; later, full sun is also fine, and they can withstand a harsh winter. Eventually reaching 2-5 m in height, pruning is recommended to prevent even taller growth! The tree's structure is slightly taller than it is wide, so in the long run, a tree circle of 3-4 meters is advisable. Maintain a minimum distance of 4 m between 2 trees. The first fruits can be expected after about 4 years, preceded in spring by strangely scented, white to reddish-brown flowers. They do not appreciate sea wind, but slightly acidic soil (ensure plenty of humus in clay soil) and a layer of mulch are highly valued by the trees. Nothing is yet known about disease infestations in our climate, but there is not much experience yet.
