Primula-Lettuce

  • Product number: 222540
  • Origin: Europe
  • Latin: Primula veris

The original, yellow cowslip. The young leaves can be eaten raw in salads or added to soup for the last 5 minutes. The taste is quite neutral, but the mouthfeel is pleasant! Because the plant sprouts early in spring, it was heavily harvested from the wild (to the point of extinction); changed agricultural methods have also not helped. A delicious wine was even made from the flowers! There are plenty of medicinal properties; among others, we found its application for ADHD avant la lettre! Plant height 15-30 cm, the best location is semi-shade to sun, provided it is sufficiently moist. The plants grow in grass, provided it is not mown short.

Sowing method: Sow in a seed tray, first give 2-4 weeks of warmth (18-22°C), then a cold period in, for example, the refrigerator (+4°C) for 4-6 weeks, then gradually warm up to room temperature, after which germination will follow. Sowing directly into the ground is also possible; in that case, simply let it overwinter, and germination will occur in the spring.
