Very popular in South Africa, where it's known as Gem Squash or Skorsie! A beautiful spherical squash, glossy dark green in colour. It measures 8 cm and weighs approximately 230 g when ripe. It can be harvested for consumption both young (it's then essentially a courgette) and ripe; the flesh is yellow when ripe.
Squash can be grown outdoors without problems. The growing tips can be pruned regularly and are edible! Harvesting during dry weather provides the best storability. All squashes are edible! For some varieties, we list synonyms, which are the names under which the variety is also known. For other varieties, we list very similar varieties; if you have a clear preference for one of those listed together, please specify clearly.
