A beautiful fruit with a very old history! We find this South Mexican pumpkin as an image on ancient Mayan pottery. Beautiful broad ribs and bumps give the fruit an exotic appearance. Harvest them young for a delicious, round zucchini (guicoyitos) or let a few fruits grow into true ornaments for the autumn table. Ripe fruits are of course edible as pumpkins with a fresh, slightly sweet taste.
Pumpkins can be grown outdoors without problems. The growing tips can be pruned regularly and are edible! Harvesting during dry weather gives the best shelf life. All pumpkins are edible! For some varieties, we list synonyms, which are the names under which the variety is also known. For other varieties, we list very similar varieties; if you have a clear preference for one of the varieties listed together, please state this clearly.
