In the Netherlands, it has been used as a rootstock for cucumbers for years (for more info: google "grafting cucumbers"), but this pumpkin also deserves to be cultivated. Oval in shape (15-20cm diameter and 20-25cm long) and speckled green-yellow with a smooth skin. Young, it can be eaten like zucchini, and when ripe, it's great for decoration, but the flesh is also perfectly edible (a bit cucumber-like). The leaves are decorative and resemble fig leaves.
Pumpkins can be grown outdoors without problems. The growing tips can be pruned regularly and are edible! Harvesting during dry weather gives the best storability. All pumpkins are edible! For some varieties, we mention synonyms, which are the names under which the variety is also known. For other varieties, we mention very similar types; if you have a clear preference for one of the varieties listed together, please specify.
