Our grower from De Lusthof (Lieven David) selected these butternut squashes in different sizes, but all equally delicious. Americans call this type Butternut, because of its nutty, rich taste. Please note: this type belongs to the species Cucurbita moschata, which needs more warmth and time than the average pumpkin. A sheltered, fertile spot in your garden and/or a warm summer will help with this.
Squash can be grown outdoors without problems. The growing tips can be pruned regularly and are edible! Harvesting during dry weather provides the best storability. All squashes are edible! For some varieties, we list synonyms, which are the names by which the variety is also known. For other varieties, we list very similar varieties; if you have a clear preference for one of those listed together, please indicate it clearly.
