An orange giant pumpkin with a slightly flattened round shape and shallow ribs or folds. 'Big Max' has a beautiful rosy red color, a hard skin, golden yellow flesh, and is very popular in America for making (long-lasting) "Halloween" masks or lanterns. Without extra pampering and diligent cultivation, they weigh around 50 kg. Of course, competitions are also organized with this variety; if you try very hard, you can equal the European record of almost 600 kg!
Pumpkins can be grown outdoors without any problems. The growing tips can be pruned regularly and are edible! Harvesting in dry weather provides the best storability. All pumpkins are edible! For some varieties, we mention synonyms, which are the names under which the variety is also known. For other varieties, we mention very similar varieties; if you have a clear preference for one of the varieties listed together, please indicate this clearly.
