Pistachio
- Product number: 213050
- Origin: Asia
- Latin: Pistacia vera
Nice tree, with elegantly feathered leaves. Place the shrub in a large pot and put it in a sunny spot outdoors during the summer. In case of frost, the plant must be moved to a frost-free location. Don't expect a harvest from this interesting tree for now; consider it a useful introduction. This very popular nut originally comes from Asia and is mainly cultivated in Iran and Turkey, but nowadays also in the USA. The green seeds (or nuts) are easily peeled from the semi-open husks. In the factory, open and closed husks are separated by the difference in sound they make. The most delicious baklava (Turkish sweet) is prepared with Pistachio and is especially famous in and around Gaziantep (Southeast Turkey). Cute bonsai trees are made from Pistachio.
