This interesting, tropical plant from the nightshade family (Solanaceae) is closely related to the Lulo (190810). It is a plant with sturdy stems and very large, ornate, toothed and hairy leaves. The flowers resemble potato flowers and have light green petals. The round to oval-round, hairy fruits are up to 10 cm in size and orange or red in color, resembling Naranjilla. The flesh of the berry is yellow and tastes like tomato with a hint of lemon. The fruits are eaten as fresh fruit or processed into juice, sauce, or jam.
