This typical Asian seasoning has a special, pungent aroma and a complex flavor, combining properties of basil, coriander, fennel, and mint. Use the leaves in salads, or in roasted and stir-fried dishes. The leaves are toothed along the edges and somewhat resemble nettle leaves. This deep red-leaved type adds contrasting color to fresh salads, and also an ornamental effect in flower and vegetable gardens! Very popular as a microgreen; see our chapter on sprouts.
Herbaceous, aromatic leaves, originating from the Far East. Cultivate in a warm spot outdoors or in a greenhouse. The appearance is nettle-like, serrated leaves, which are eaten raw or stewed. If the leaves are harvested 20 cm above the ground, you can harvest for a long time due to regrowth.
