This relative of the eggplant and potato is typically a plant from South America, where it is popular and well-known. The plant grows to about 1m tall and produces very beautiful, cream-colored fruits with purple stripes. From seed, fruits with a soft and sweet taste (like melon) are produced, but there are also specimens that are stir-fried like eggplants because they are more bitter. Select the sweetest plants for cuttings and continued cultivation: delicious in salads and for appetizers or desserts. The plants love warmth, can be outdoors in summer, and must be brought indoors from the first cold in September. In winter, prune occasionally, and place in a cool, light spot. We select for plants with dark stems and dark purple fruits, so these will definitely be included.
