You can still find this variety on the northern coast of Peru, in Lambayeque and Piura. Many people have a few large, perennial plants in their backyard and the fruits are usually harvested green, although they eventually ripen to red and orange-red. Peruvians usually eat this pepper raw or make a tasty sauce from it. The wrinkled fruits are 6-10 cm long, quite wide and end in a point.
