Mixed patisson: many colour and shape combinations occur: white or yellow with green stripes, smooth or (sometimes) warty.
Patisson is the French name for a flat, ornamental fruit, which closely resembles a flying saucer. The fruit is closely related to zucchini and tastes very similar. The intention is to harvest them (for consumption) young to very young, when the skin still feels "squeaky". It is even more luxurious to harvest them so young that the flower is still attached... Fried whole in oil, this makes a beautiful dish! To preserve the fruit for display, you must let it ripen on the (compact) plant. Enjoy this beauty!
