This elongated, sometimes pointed, sometimes blunt-ended pepper has been in the European seed trade since at least 1859, and before the arrival of modern hybrids, they were the largest peppers on the market! Notable are the large yield and the easy growth of the fruits, which ripen from green to red. When green, the fruit's flavour is sufficiently sweet and crunchy with a hint of anise. The ripe, red fruits are sweet and bursting with flavour. With vigorous growth, the plants reach a height of 1-1.5 m. Each fruit has 3 locules and is irregularly indented here and there, leading to amusing shapes, measuring 15-20 cm long and 6-8 cm wide.
