A much sought-after crop for Indonesian and Surinamese cuisine. This perennial plant produces pleasantly sweet, fleshy, elongated fruits. In winter, place them in a heated greenhouse or as a potted plant indoors. The young leaves are a delicacy, and the male flower clusters are also eaten (stir-fry briefly). In summer, they can be placed outdoors in a large pot as a container plant. Even as a foliage plant, they are already very beautiful, and fruit can appear from the 2nd year. 'Sunrise' has orange flesh and is a hybrid with very good growth characteristics, harvest security, and fruit quality, so it is highly recommended.
