Much sought-after crop for Indian and Surinamese cuisine. The perennial plant produces pleasantly sweet, fleshy, elongated fruits. In winter, place them in a heated greenhouse or as a potted plant indoors. The young leaves are a delicacy, and the male flower clusters are also eaten (lightly stir-fried). In summer, they can be placed outdoors as a container plant in a large pot. Even as a foliage plant, it is already very attractive, and fruits can appear from the 2nd year. 'Red Lady' has red flesh and is a hybrid with very good growth characteristics, harvest reliability, and fruit quality, making it highly recommended.
