Small, spherical fruits that can be sweetened, soured, baked or roasted, whether ripe or unripe. Pleasant edible flesh!
The ripe fruits have a wonderful fragrance; in size and color, they resemble yellow tennis balls.
Garden Lemon or Apple Melon (Chito group) Less vining and smaller leaves than other types. Leaves and stems are hairy. The fruit skin is smooth and the flesh is white or yellow (resembling cucumber flesh). They can be eaten raw, but are also pickled or otherwise preserved (due to the abundant harvest).
