A very old and ornamental, original maize from South America. Originally white, but through cross-breeding in the 19th century, it was cultivated to be deep red. This corn is particularly large, still used for cooking, grinding into flour, and in its soft stage, the cobs can also be eaten as (slightly) sweet corn. The plant grows vigorously and has narrow leaves and green-red stalks: feel free to plant a row for decorative purposes!
