This beautiful steel-blue corn produces cobs over 20 cm long and originated with Native Americans (a Shaman is a type of medicine man). In the US, this blue variety is popular as a large, colored popcorn. For successful "popping," the corn must be sufficiently hard and mature; in a poor late summer, this sometimes doesn't happen in our country. Harvestable after approximately 100 days when the kernels harden, and then dry further. The seeds pop open when heated, providing a healthy snack!
