Because of its pointed, instead of round, head shape, this tender, green savoy cabbage can be harvested early. Formerly, there was a variety called 'Maastrichter Schelk', which Belgians called "driekopper" (three-header); since this variety is extinct, the trick can also be pulled off with this variety: sow in September, overwinter as a biennial plant (under glass), plant out in early spring, and harvest in early summer; do not cut too deeply, the plant will grow back and then form a few (usually 3) side shoots that are deliciously tender and harvested as small heads: good luck!
