A variety from around 1816 with loosely growing dark green leaves. The stem can grow to 120 cm in 1 year. In mild winters (otherwise protect), the cabbage can last for years and continues to grow slowly. This cabbage is known worldwide for its enormous leaf production and is therefore popular as a reliable food source for humans and animals. The eating experience is that of a spicy kale, to which this cabbage is also related. Pick the leaves young (for a delicious stew) and prune the plant occasionally: chickens, rabbits, cows... they love it!
This cabbage (along with other varieties) is called Tree Collard or Boomkool, due to its good overwintering and eventual stem formation.
