ORGANICALLY GROWN SEEDS! For those who think that red kale has no history, I can set the record straight: although Bejo introduced a hybrid variety around 1990, this dark purple kale, growing up to 180 cm tall with slightly curled leaves, is much older. Its origin is probably in Ostfriesland (Germany). With some self-mockery, this group of large leaf cabbages (due to their resemblance) are sometimes called “German Palms”. The mild taste of this graceful, frost-resistant plant improves with colder weather. After sowing, always separate the ordinary green seedlings from the red-green ones. If you prune the plant a bit and remove the flowers, the plant will last at least another year!
