ORGANICALLY GROWN SEEDS! For those who think that red kale has no history, I can set the record straight: while Bejo did introduce a hybrid variety around 1990, this blue-green kale, reaching 180-200 cm with lightly curled leaves, is much older. Its origins lie around Lippstadt in the old principality of Lippe. With a touch of self-deprecating humour, this group of large leaf cabbages is sometimes called "Lippische Palmen" (Lippe Palms) due to their resemblance. The mild flavour of this ornamental, frost-resistant plant improves as it experiences more cold. After sowing, always separate the regular green seedlings from the red-green ones. In spring, cut off the flowering stalks, and it will develop into a perennial small tree!
