Amsoi or Leaf Mustard 'Purple Frills' has finely incised leaves with a beautiful deep purple color and a spicy taste. The leaves can be eaten at both young and mature stages.
In the Himalayan region, amsoi or leaf mustard has been cultivated and eaten for more than 5000 years. In many other countries too, this leafy cabbage is part of the daily meal and can be prepared just like spinach and other leafy vegetables.
This vegetable is very winter-hardy. Sowing in late summer allows you to eat it in autumn and winter. When sown in early summer, the plants tend to bolt easily, but then produce beautiful, edible yellow flowers.
