An Italian delicacy (especially in Puglia), these large egg-shaped melon cucumbers! The flesh becomes sweeter and softer as they ripen. Eventually, they turn orange-yellow and are then truly comparable to regular melons. Grow them in a greenhouse; cultivation requires care and attention! It is quite possible that this species eventually came from China via the Silk Road, where they are also popular in certain regions!
