Thick oval fruits with spines on the outer skin, yellowish-green when edible (10x15cm). The very juicy pulp tastes like cucumber. To eat them: cut in half, scoop out the flesh, add a little salt and lemon juice, tomato slices... delicious! The climbing or creeping plant can be grown both in a greenhouse and in a sheltered outdoor location. Fruits remain good for months.
Bitter-free, long, green, fruitful. Tolerates nighttime cooling well. The true professionally grown cucumber.
GENERAL INTRODUCTION TO CUCUMBERS:
Cucumbers that grow long vines may be pruned regularly. For outdoor cultivation, a reasonable summer is needed (depending on the variety), and all varieties grow in a greenhouse. Sometimes it is advisable to let the plant grow outdoors if fruit set fails! Cucumbers are usually harvested unripe, unless the skin becomes extra beautiful when ripe. Unripe fruits are sliced and used raw in salads; ripe fruits can be scooped out like a melon. Many small cucumber-like fruits or (extremely) young harvested fruits are eaten as gherkins (pickled) or as a healthy snack with a drink or meal. Pay attention to the individual description of our species and varieties; some are for ornamental purposes only and NOT edible!
