A strong variety for outdoor cultivation, moderately trailing, can be grown as a climber in a greenhouse. The green, medium-length, relatively smooth fruits are bitter-free and have a sweet, fresh taste. Mixed flowering, bitter-free and resistant to downy and powdery mildew and various viruses. At a very young stage, the crunchy fruits can be harvested as gherkins or snack cucumbers: at a size of 18x2 cm, the fruits weigh 70g. "Mature" fruits are 34x7 cm and weigh 1 kg.
In greenhouse cultivation, soil diseases can establish themselves, so grafting cucumbers onto a disease-resistant rootstock can be the solution. For grafting, use this variety: 133000 'Boule de Siam'. As an aid, we recommend these grafting clips: 847525 Grafting clip 2.5 mm.
GENERAL INTRODUCTION CUCUMBERS:
Cucumbers that produce long vines can be pruned regularly. For outdoor cultivation, a reasonably warm summer is needed (depending on the variety) and all varieties grow well in a greenhouse. Sometimes it is advisable to let the plant grow outside if fruit set fails! Cucumbers are usually harvested unripe, unless the skin becomes particularly attractive when ripe. Unripe fruits are sliced and used raw in salads, while ripe fruits can be spooned out like a melon. Many small cucumber varieties or (extremely) young harvested fruits are eaten as gherkins (pickled) or as a healthy snack with a drink or meal. Pay attention to the individual descriptions of our species and varieties, some are purely ornamental and NOT edible!
